A Child Of The Underworlds


If you thought Kill Bill was a badass masterpiece, you should check out this film, which was a major influence on Tarantino’s two-volume epic. Yuki (Meiko Kaji) was literally born for vengeance…Her lifelong quest is to slay the scumbags who killed her father and raped her mother…There’s no kung fu in this one…just a helluva lot of swordplay…it feels almost more like a spaghetti western at times…down to its soundtrack. And like Kill Bill, it constantly contrasts the delicate beauty of Japan (and Yuki herself) with the over-the-top bloodletting and cruelty of the underworld that Yuki is wading through in her single-minded mission…
