In the 80’s, America was crazy about the 50’s, revisiting its fashion, music, movies…so crazy, in fact, that it elected the star of Bedtime For Bonzo president. Twice. In 50’s movies, A-bomb testing created all sorts of wild card monster mutations. In the 80’s, it was toxic waste. Which brings us to Slugs. A Love Canal-type town built over a toxic dump is overrun by garden pests gone maneater. Health Inspector Mike Brady (I thought he was an architect?) investigates while obnoxious suburbanites, teens and yuppies become slug bait. The FX are pretty realistic…and disgusting. My one question is…why didn’t they just dump a truckload of salt on ’em?
